The government puts refugees in the desert so that they are out of sight, out of mind. We won’t let them. We will travel to the detention centre to visit asylum seekers inside and we want you to join us. The more people we have, the stronger our message will be.

The government says that kids have been taken out of detention. And yet there are currently 882 children in immigration detention, including at Leonora in the Goldfields, which is currently for under 18’s only.

This is the third Refugee Rights Action Network (RRAN) journey to Leonora. We want to make it the best. The previous trips played an important role in exposing the squalid conditions and challenging the lies coming from DIAC and Serco as well as showing the asylum seekers that they are welcome, not forgotten.

So show your solidarity with refugees next Australia Day and come to Leonora.
