A human rights lawyer has lodged papers in the High Court in a bid to challenge asylum seekers’ detention on the grounds of adverse ASIO security assessments.

ASYLUM seekers branded security threats by the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation have been involved in a spate of suicide attempts inside the nation’s detention network.

Four refugee activists were barred from visiting refugees at Villawood detention centre after being ‘deemed to have taken part in a protest’ at the Villawood gate.
The four were visiting Villawood to present two ASIO-negative Tamil refugees with Aboriginal passports issued by the Treaty Republic.
